How to Use MyFANOSS
A daily check-in journal for couples walking the path of recovery together.
Recovery takes courage, and so does showing up honestly each day. MyFANOSS gives you and your partner a safe, private space to reflect on your feelings, affirm your strengths, and grow together — one check-in at a time.
Whether you're the one seeking sobriety or the partner walking alongside them, this space is for both of you.
What is FANOSS?
FANOSS is a structured daily check-in used in sexual sobriety recovery. Each letter represents a step in the process:
Identify your core feelings today. Core feelings are raw, physical sensations like joy, sadness, fear, or anger — before the mind interprets them. Select what resonates and write about why. You can also add your own words and save them to a shared library you and your partner build over time.
Choose words that describe who you are at your best. These positive affirmations help rebuild self-worth and remind you of the good within you. Add your own affirmation words too — saved words join the shared library for future check-ins.
Share what you need right now — from your partner, from yourself, or from God. Naming your needs is an act of vulnerability and strength.
Take ownership of something you want to improve or be accountable for. This isn't about shame — it's about growth.
Reflect on where you saw God's presence in your day. Spiritual awareness can be a powerful anchor in recovery.
For seekers: share honestly about your sobriety journey today. For affected partners: reflect on your boundaries — what feels safe, what needs attention, and how you are caring for yourself in this season.
Using the App
Check-in
Your daily journal. The check-in wizard walks you through each FANOSS letter step by step. Take your time — your progress saves automatically, so you can leave and come back anytime. When you're done, you can read it aloud to your partner using “Read to Partner” mode — where the A− and A+ buttons enlarge the text for easy reading — or print a clean copy to keep.

History
Look back on your past check-ins. Seeing your journey over time reveals patterns, celebrates growth, and reminds you how far you've come. You can edit past entries or share them with your partner retroactively. A “Word usage” view shows which feelings and affirmations you reach for most across your check-ins.

Partner
View check-ins your partner has shared with you. All entries are private by default — sharing is always a choice. When your partner shares a check-in, it will appear here. Unread entries are highlighted so you never miss one.
Settings
Manage your profile name, invite or link your partner via email, control your notifications, set up or change your encryption passphrase, review and remove your saved custom words, and add MyFANOSS to your phone's home screen. You can also manage your data and account here.
Home
Your dashboard. See a daily Bible verse for encouragement — copy it or tap the heart to save it to your favorites — review or start today's check-in, view unread partner notifications, and track your month with the calendar view. Prefer not to see the verse? You can hide it in Settings.

Notifications
Under Settings, you can choose to email your partner the moment you share a check-in (on by default), and opt in to a gentle daily reminder for yourself — at a time you pick, in your timezone, in 15-minute increments. If you've already completed today's check-in, the reminder is skipped. This is also where you can show or hide the daily Bible verse on your home page.
Your Privacy & Encryption
Everything you write in MyFANOSS is private by default. We never read, sell, or share your data. You choose what to share with your partner, and you can delete your data at any time.
During setup (or in Settings), you create an encryption passphrase. All your check-in content is encrypted in your browser before it reaches our servers, meaning not even we can read your entries. If you have a partner, share the same passphrase with them so they can read entries you choose to share.
Important: If you lose your passphrase, your encrypted data cannot be recovered. We do not store it and have no way to reset it.
“You don't have to be perfect. You just have to show up. And you're already doing that.”
